Understanding the Silver Panel Skin in avast! Antivirus

May 16th, 2008 Ashutosh Mishra

avast! is one of the most robust antiviruses available in the market. The Home edition, which is free for personal use, boasts of a 6-shield real time protection, a strong virus and malware scanner, an excellent infection remover and a “chest” to isolate tough viruses from your system. Another good feature of avast! is it’s skinnable interface – you can use any of the fifty-something skins available on the website! By default, avast! uses the “Silver Panel” skin, which looks great but can be highly confusing for beginners. When I had tried avast! for the first time about two years ago, the only reason I threw it out was because of this skin. If you too are having the same problem with the Silver Panel skin, this explanatory screenshot will probably help you out.

Should you continue to have more problems, feel free to ask me through a comment. I will be covering more of avast! in coming days, do stay tuned. :)
