Sun Microsystems have released version of 2.1.2 of their open source virtualization tool – VirtualBox. Even if it’s a “maintenance” release, the version fixes a plethora of bugs, and adds support for Windows 7, which is currently under beta. Among other changes, the launch speed has notched up quite a bit, and 3D acceleration is handled better through OpenGL.
The constantly updating and improving VirtualBox has clearly made itself a viable substitute to competing shareware products like VMware and Parallels.
VirtualBox is a free download for Windows, Mac and Linux.
