Make a Vista of Your XP Without Slowing Down Your PC [Vista Inspirat 2]

June 5th, 2008 Ashutosh Mishra

Ever since the release of the glamorous Windows Vista, many themes and transformation packs have been developed for Windows XP to mimic the Aero look in Vista. These packs replace the default Windows XP graphics, icons and logon screen with those in Vista, and add some extra looks as well. Needless to say, they do slow up your computer’s performance quite a bit and are not suitable to be used on low performance systems. However, this is no longer the case with the latest version of Vista Inspirat, which provides a cool Vista look without affecting your system performance! Vista Inspirat includes four installation modes – Express, Classic, Total and Personalized.

It’s the Express mode that patches your XP’s look without using additional resources. If you have a low-end PC, just go on with the Express installation and your desktop will be get a cool Vista look and retain the speed as well. I tried it on my desktop with 512MB RAM and a Pentium IV processor and there has been no effect on performance.

If you have got more powerful systems, you can of course choose Classic or Total modes to get an overall better transformation. Go on with Personalized mode if you want to boss about what to and what not to get. Among other additions, these modes include a sidebar dock and better transparency effects. After installation, you can turn on / off additional features from “Vista Inspirat 2 Config”.

Issues
I had trouble with the title bar buttons in Inspirat after making some changes under Display Settings > Appearance > Advanced.

If you face the same problem, simply choose Vista Inspirat 2 under “Windows and buttons” (even if it’s there by default) and hit the Apply button. The buttons will be back to normal.

Vista Inspirat creates a System Restore point before installation, so it’s absolutely safe to be used. Moreover, the uninstallation is clean and complete and restores your previous display settings.

Well you should use the Express settings – you won’t get some of the fancy effects but you’ll get a Vista look alright. :)
